How to play Dominoes

Bring your attention to one round of Dominoes. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Look at what changes after your first action. Begin with the local players mode shown on the page. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

A careful first round

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Notice how the game responds to your input.

Step by step

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Use one clear input at a time.

A useful example

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Read the matching step again.

Watch out for this

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. A different version of the game may use a different rule. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
