Your goal

Guess the five-letter answer in six attempts. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Step by step

  1. Enter five letters.
  2. Green marks the correct position; gold marks an available copy elsewhere.
  3. Grey means no matching unused copy.
  4. Use the feedback to solve.

Controls

Type a guess and press Check guess or Enter. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

A useful example

With APPLE as the answer and ALLEE as the guess, the first A and final E are in the right places. The extra L and E are not both counted as present. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

Repeated letters do not imply unlimited copies in the answer. Compare the situation with the worked example. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
